The Honeycomb Toffee Latte at Jina Bakes Is the Bay Area Treat Every Tired Mom Deserves
Let me be real with you for a second.
This is a post about the Honeycomb Toffee Latte at Jina Bakes in San Francisco — and why it belongs on every tired Bay Area mom’s must-try list.
I am not a fancy coffee person. I’m the mom who grabs a black coffee the minute I wake up and chugs it before the first sound of the kids and considers that a success. Lattes? Oat milk? Flavored syrups? Not really my thing. I just need caffeine, and I need it fast, and I need it before anyone asks me where their other shoe is.
So when I tell you that I have driven across the Bay for a latte, you know it’s serious.
The latte living rent free on my mind is the Honeycomb Toffee Latte at Jina Bakes in San Francisco’s Japantown, and it has absolutely ruined my coffee simplicity in the best way.

What Even Is Jina Bakes?
If you haven’t heard of Jina Bakes and you live in the Bay Area California, first of all — I’m so glad I get to be the one to introduce you to it. It’s a Korean-French-Japanese bakery tucked into the Japantown mall at 1581 Webster Street in SF, and it is exactly as magical as that description sounds. Think flaky croissants meets injeolmi rice cake meets “how is this even real” flavor combinations. The place has a cult following for good reason, and the lines on weekends are no joke. (Pro tip: go on a weekday if you can swing it, and get there early — things sell out.)
It has TikTok fame, food press buzz, and a loyal local fanbase. But honestly? I wasn’t even thinking about pastries when I first went. I was chasing that latte.
The Honeycomb Toffee Latte: A Hot Take
Here’s my controversial opinion: I come to Jina Bakes for the coffee.
The Honeycomb Toffee Latte is not your average sweet coffee drink. It’s creamy without being cloying, rich without being heavy, and it has this gorgeous piece of honeycomb candy sitting right on top that makes you feel like you are a person who has her life together. (Even if you have a Goldfish cracker in your pocket and dried yogurt on your sleeve. Not that I would know.)
What makes it different from the honeycomb lattes I’ve tried at other Bay Area spots is the balance. A lot of toffee-flavored drinks tip into dessert territory — too sugary, too thick, leaves you feeling vaguely guilty. This one doesn’t. It’s the treat-yourself version of coffee without crossing the line into milkshake. As someone who normally drinks everything black, that is high praise coming from me.
It is the drink I look forward to on a rough week. The “I handled every single thing today and nobody cried (much)” reward. Order it. Trust me.
Okay Fine, The Pastries Are Incredible Too
I said I come for the coffee, but I’d be doing you a disservice if I glossed over the baked goods.
The Injeolmi Croissant is the one to get if you’ve never been. It’s a croissant topped with chewy Korean rice cake and dusted with roasted soybean powder (that’s the injeolmi part), and it is one of those bites where you stop mid-chew and just sort of stare into the middle distance. The French and Korean flavors blend in a way that feels both completely unexpected and completely inevitable. I also love the chocolate version.
Their banana bread is also exceptional — dangerously soft, perfectly sweetened, and if you have small children, buy two. I thought I’d be sharing mine. I was not sharing mine. My kids made sure of that.
One More Thing: Buy the Honeycomb Candy
If you fall in love with that latte (and you will), grab a bag of their honeycomb candy on the way out. Yes, it’s $13.50. Yes, that is objectively a lot for candy. But here’s the thing — if you’re a working Bay Area mom juggling everything all the time, you deserve one small, slightly overpriced joy that is entirely yours.
Put it in your bag. Don’t share it. Eat it after bedtime. You earned it.
