6 Postpartum Must-Haves: The Mommy Glow Edition (Because You Deserve to Feel Like Yourself Again)

Let’s just all say it out loud: postpartum is a monster.

I’m a big believer in talking about the hard stuff, because sometimes just naming it is enough to take away some of its power. And postpartum? It was hard for me. For first-time moms especially, it can feel completely overwhelming — you’re suddenly responsible for keeping a tiny human alive while somehow also keeping yourself together. For my first, it took me a solid 6 to 8 months to feel like my head was screwed on right again, let alone try to make myself feel put together.

So in the spirit of speeding that timeline up for you, I’ve rounded up the 6 things I swear by — the ones I’d genuinely die on a hill for — to help you get your spark back. No shame, no fluff, just real things that actually helped.

And no surprise: a few of them are hair products, because postpartum hair loss is a whole situation we need to talk about more.

1. DAE Cactus Fruit Styling Cream & Wand

Postpartum baby hairs? We’ve all been there. Those little flyaways along your hairline that refuse to cooperate no matter what you do, this styling cream was my saving grace. It tames them down without making your hair feel crunchy or weighed down, and honestly it just makes you feel polished even on your messiest mom days. The smell is amazing. Finally, bonus tip, nowadays, I use this wand on my toddlers whenever I want to get them to look a little bit more put together!

2. Nutrafol Postpartum Supplements

Here’s my one big postpartum regret: not taking hair loss seriously until it was very obvious. I was balding in my 30s. Like, actually balding. And that hit my self-esteem way harder than I expected. I wish I had started Nutrafol’s postpartum supplements earlier to help reduce the shedding and support regrowth from the inside out. If you’re reading this before the hair loss kicks in, please, please start these now. Your future self will thank you. I wish I started months ahead to avoid the balding situation I was left with for months.

3. K18 Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask

Between the postpartum shedding, the dry shampoo abuse, and whatever else you’re putting your hair through just to survive, your strands need some love. K18 is the treatment that actually repairs hair from the inside of the strand (science!), so you can rebuild that strength and get back to hair that feels like yours again.

4. Sol de Janeiro Hair & Body Perfume Mist

Okay, I’m just going to say it: after I gave birth, I smelled… different. I truly believe it’s the hormone shifts that happen postpartum. Your body odor can actually change in the weeks and months after delivery. I started spritzing this Sol de Janeiro mist every morning and it became the tiniest little ritual that made me feel so much more human. It smells incredible, it works on your hair and body, and it takes all of three seconds. Worth every penny.

5. Manucurist Active Glow Raspberry Nail Polish

Your nails are probably the last thing on your mind right now. I totally get it. But hear me out: there is something about having a fresh coat of polish at 3 AM during a feeding that just makes you feel like you’ve still got it together. Enter the Manucurist Active Glow in Raspberry. Yes, it’s as good as it sounds. It’s a 2-in-1 nail concealer and care treatment packed with plant-based ingredients like sweet almond oil and raspberry extract, so while you’re looking put-together, you’re actually nourishing your nails at the same time. It dries fast, the color is a gorgeous glowy pink that works on every skin tone, and it genuinely helps you reconnect with the version of you that existed before the spit-up and the sleep deprivation. Little luxury, big mood boost. Also? It makes a ridiculously good gift.

6. Heavyweight Cotton Tees

You don’t need to go shopping for a whole new postpartum wardrobe, especially when you’re going to be realistically changing sizes for a few months (gotta love the weight rollercoaster). However, a few great basics go a long way. After trying a ton of options, this heavyweight cotton tee became my obsession. It’s substantial enough to drape well, forgiving on a body that’s still changing, and removes all of the mental energy of figuring out what to wear. I lived in these while I was losing the baby weight, and they made me feel like a put-together human being even on the days when I absolutely was not. It’s easy to wear with just a simple pair of leggings.

That’s a wrap, mama! I knowm taking care of yourself feels impossible when you’re in survival mode. But you know the whole “put your oxygen mask on first” thing? It’s real. Take the extra five minutes in the shower. Throw on a coat of polish. Give your hair some love. You just gave birth! You deserve a little luxury.

And if you have a friend who just went through the most life-changing experience of her life? Toss a few of these in a gift bag and drop it on her doorstep. She will never forget it.
